When a Child or Adolescent comes into our care we work very hard to provide support and consideration to the whole family unit. We ensure a multi-step evaluation of not only the identified child but of the entire family and community system, recognizing that each person involved is an integral part of the child’s or adolescent’s healing, growth, and development.
Children and early adults who struggle with behavioral symptoms have often suffered substantial traumatic events and have not had a stable home environment due to many factors. We work with the whole system to help create the most effective environment for the child to grow and thrive. We know every case is different, and therefore provide tailored services based on each person’s individual needs.
Our clinicians use mindfulness-based approaches such as ‘Dialectical Behavioral Therapy’ and ‘Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.’ We focus our efforts on acceptance, non-judgement, consistency, validation, boundary development, skill building………...and most importantly, we give them TIME.
Common Behavioral Struggles:
· Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)*
· Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)**
· Anxiety
· Depression
· Learning Disorders
· Autism Spectrum Disorder
· Conduct Disorders
· Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)***
* Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) - A disorder that can advance from an early age when a young child has failed to develop an attachment or bond with a primary caregiver and results in an inability for the child to form normal, loving relationships with others. Often, the child has been the victim of abuse or neglect. This early struggle leads to behavioral difficulties that may remain present from childhood through adulthood.
** Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) - A child’s persistent pattern of anger, defiance, and vindictiveness against authority. A child must show multiple symptoms and they must exist for a period longer than 6 months.
*** Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - A chronic condition that often continues into adulthood, which includes a combination of persistent problems such as Difficulty Sustaining Attention, Impulsive Behavior and Hyperactivity.
We have experienced clinicians with specific expertise in ALL of the above listed struggles, and we are ready to come “Meet You Where You Are At,” to walk with you and your family as you go to where you want to be.
