El Paso Family Mentoring and Counseling Services is an ADHS licensed counseling facility that provides both Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Home-Based and Community-Based services. We service the General Mental Health Community, aged 2 to 65+, in Maricopa, Pima, Gila, and Pinal Counties!
Here is a look at our programming!
When doing an assessment for an identified client we look at the whole Bio-Social environment. Our assessment is comprehensive, sometimes requiring multiple steps, meaning, we are not only assessing the identified client but also the entire family and community system, recognizing that each is an integral component of the individual’s healing, growth, and development.
Our intensive outpatient program is truly unique to the industry. We take an individualized approach to this treatment, and it is done in-home and one-to-one. Our I-IOP service runs 10 or more hours a week depending on medical necessity. At the assessment we identify the most beneficial therapeutic intervention, working with the client’s base skills to help them build stability and develop a crisis plan. We utilize evidence-based models of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy throughout our I-IOP planning. Our goal is to ensure the client has the skills that will reduce their need for hospitalization, crisis services, substance use and self-harm. Our team of clinicians meet weekly to discuss the continued need for the I-IOP level of services, and, in the best interest of the client, we reduce hours, titrating them off the I-IOP services. This service is provided for Adolescents and Adults. The maximum length of the I-IOP level of services would be at 6 weeks.
With the goal to reduce substance use, self-harming behaviors, crisis utilization and hospitalization, our Crisis Hospitalization Follow-up provides one-on-one, individual support to help the client with immediate skill development for direct application in the areas causing them distress.

When counseling is required, we are ready to listen to each individual’s story, to learn of the pain and hardships, to analyze the reasons behind the suffering and to share the most advantageous avenues of recovery and restoration. The evidence based practices we use are EMDR, Expressive Therapies, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Equine Therapy, the SAMHSA Co-Occurring Model, the SAMHSA Peer Support Model and the SAMHSA Supportive Employment model.
Our adult counseling program covers all general mental health diagnoses. We offer both Adult Individual and Group counseling.

When a Child or Adolescent comes into our care we work very hard to provide support and consideration to the whole family unit. We ensure a multi-step evaluation of not only the identified child but of the entire family and community system, recognizing that each person involved is an integral part of the child’s or adolescent’s healing, growth and development.
Some of our focus specialties are:
We work with couples to identify their individual primary relationships struggles, and identify what each person needs from the relationship. Once this is done we help them to focus on improving communication skills, working on acceptance of each other’s differences and coming together through their commonalities.
We provide parenting skills taught individually, family style, and in groups. We identify the specific parenting needs and develop a customized parenting plan. We offer our parenting groups and services both in English and in Spanish.
One time weekly, this program involves a Skills Training Group of the four modules: Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Mindfulness. The skills training is paired with weekly individual counseling and coaching calls to reduce self-harm and crisis services.
