First, a quick word about our programs...

El Paso Family Mentoring and Counseling Services is an ADHS licensed counseling facility that provides both Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Home-Based and Community-Based services.  We service the General Mental Health Community, aged 2 to 65+,  in Maricopa, Pima, Gila, and Pinal Counties!

Here is a look at our programming!

Family System Based Assessments:

When doing an assessment for an identified client we look at the whole Bio-Social environment. Our assessment is comprehensive, sometimes requiring multiple steps, meaning, we are not only assessing the identified client but also the entire family and community system, recognizing that each is an integral component of the individual’s healing, growth and development.

I-IOP - Individual Intensive Outpatient Services:

Our intensive outpatient program is truly unique to the industry. We take an individualized approach to this treatment, and it is done in-home and one-to-one. Our I-IOP service runs 10 or more hours a week depending on medical necessity. At the assessment we identify the most beneficial therapeutic intervention, working with the client’s base skills to help them build stability and develop a crisis plan. We utilize evidence-based models of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy throughout our I-IOP planning. Our goal is to ensure the client has the skills that will reduce their need for hospitalization, crisis services, substance use and self-harm. Our team of clinicians meet weekly to discuss the continued need for the I-IOP level of services, and, in the best interest of the client, we reduce hours, titrating them off the I-IOP services. This service is provided for Adolescents and Adults. The maximum length of the I-IOP level of services would be at 6 weeks.

Crisis Hospitalization Follow-up:

With the goal to reduce substance use, self-harming behaviors, crisis utilization and hospitalization, our Crisis Hospitalization Follow-up provides one-on-one, individual support to help the client with immediate  skill development for direct application in the areas causing them distress.

This program helps both Adolescents and Adults who have:

  • Frequent hospital/crisis utilization
  • Issues applying coping skills when they return home
  • Complicated home environments

Chronic Pain:

Our Chronic Pain Program is designed to help adults that are experiencing:

  • Persistent chronic pain
  • Pain that a medical doctor is unable to treat with traditional/mechanical medical practices
  • Pain that a medical doctor believes is increased or caused by psychological factors
  • Pain brought on through the misuse of pain medications
  • Limited or reduced daily activities due to their pain

Ongoing Health Concerns:

This program is specifically tailored to minimize the ongoing health concerns of Adults that:

  • Have persistent medical or health problems
  • Feel overwhelmed with current health concerns
  • Struggle with maintaining health due to missed medical appointments, poor follow-up or just a large number of appointments
  • Have limited or reduced daily activities due to health concerns

In this program, we closely coordinate with the client's medical doctor, specialist and/or all medical providers the client is seeing.  This is done to increase the following:

  • Stress management
  • Meaningful life activities
  • Ability to maintain appointments and obtain proper medical follow-up

Behavioral Coaching:

Behavioral Coaching is a program created and structured to help:

  • Children, Adolescents and Adults in supportive settings
  • Those that struggle with behaviors in social settings
  • Those diagnosed with ODD, ADD, ADHD and Autism

In this program, our professionals closely coordinate with all stakeholders in the client's life.  Stakeholders are frequently asked for feedback on behaviors and changes in behaviors using Functional Behavioral Assessments.

This is done to increase:

  • Consistency for the client
  • Progressional and development of life activities
  • Use of coping skills and communication

Outpatient Counseling and Mentoring Services:

Whenever mentoring is needed, we provide guidance in the development of the behavioral skills necessary to negotiate life's most challenging situations through independent skill building, connecting with community resources and ensuring community resource education.

When counseling is required, we are ready to listen to each individual’s story, to learn of the pain and hardships, to analyze the reasons behind the suffering and to share the most advantageous avenues of recovery and restoration.  The evidence based practices we use are EMDR, Expressive Therapies, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Equine Therapy, the SAMHSA Co-Occurring Model, the SAMHSA Peer Support Model and the SAMHSA Supportive Employment model.

Parents:

We provide parenting skills taught individually, family style, and in groups. We identify the specific parenting needs and develop a customized parenting plan. We offer our parenting groups and services both in English and in Spanish.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Comprehensive Program:

One time weekly, this program involves a Skills Training Group of the four modules: Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Mindfulness. The skills training is paired with weekly individual counseling and coaching calls to reduce self-harm and crisis services.
